Schroeder Foundation Announces $100,000 Donation to St. Andrew’s School

Students at St. Andrew’s Elementary School in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, have good things to look forward to in 2022, with the announcement of a significant donation towards improving learning and life in the school community.

St. Andrew’s Elementary is located on University Avenue in St. John’s and is one of the most diverse schools in the province, and the school community faces many challenges. For several years the Schroeder Foundation has supported schools, students, and families in Winnipeg’s North End, who face many of the same challenges as those faced by the community of St. Andrew’s.

Staff at Terra Bruce Productions, one of the Schroeder family’s businesses, recently became aware that St. Andrew’s needed help, and having seen first-hand the transformational legacy of the Foundation in Winnipeg, were delighted to engage with the Schroeder family to bring these programs to St. John’s.

The Schroeder Foundation will fully support specific programs for this school, ultimately donating more than $100,000 to St. Andrew’s Elementary. The first of these donations has already taken place, with the Foundation providing the funds to purchase six new Smartboards for the school. Over the next couple of months, the Foundation will support the creation of a unique outdoor classroom, a space where learning can happen outside in a safe natural environment. During the winter we will assist the school in the creation of several other student and family programs to enhance learning and the well-being of the school community.

Terra Bruce Productions’ resident performers gathered at the school on Friday, December 17 to sing, play, and celebrate this generous gift!
